The problem we know too well

When receiving tracks for mixing, dual-mono kicks, basses, keys, and vocals show up all the time. They are annoying to pan, demand more processing, and eat disk space.

Splitting to mono is a boring loop: three tracks, delete two, pan the survivor, then do it all again across dozens of channels. MonoBot handles that prep outside the session.

MonoBot analyzing audio files

What each file actually is

MonoBot labels every file so you are not guessing in the session.

Channel types MonoBot detects

Mono

Single-channel audio. One waveform, no stereo image.

Stereo

Different content on left and right. True stereo.

Dual Mono

Identical signal on both channels. Twice the space it needs.

Mono Left

Audio only in the left channel. Right is silent.

Mono Right

Audio only in the right channel. Left is silent.

Empty

No significant audio detected. Dead stem or placeholder.

What this saves you

Time

Analyses run at lightning speed. Fix hundreds of files in one batch instead of doing them one at a time in Pro Tools.

Disk space

Dual-mono stereo files take twice the space they need. MonoBot collapses them before you start mixing.

Renaming

Mono Left and Mono Right export as filename_L and filename_R. Dual mono becomes a single mono file.

Stem delivery

Catch empty files, dual-mono stems, and one-sided tracks before a mix engineer opens the session.

Formats

WAV, MP3, AIF, AIFF, M4A, FLAC, and more. Drag and drop or use the file picker.

How it works

Prep outside the session. Import when files are already in the right shape.

How MonoBot works and who it is for

01

Load

Drop a folder or pick files. MonoBot scans the lot in seconds.

02

Analyze

Each file is classified by channel layout—mono, stereo, dual mono, left-only, right-only, or empty.

03

Label

Every file gets a clear channel tag, so you know what you are looking at before you commit.

04

Export

Batch-export corrected files. Sample rate and bit depth stay untouched.

Who it is for

  • Mix engineers cleaning stem deliveries
  • Musicians and producers checking exports before sending a session out
  • Post-production teams sorting dialogue and FX
  • Anyone managing large libraries where channel layout was never checked at ingest

macOS only. Tested on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. No DAW required to scan or export.
